There are plenty of choices if you would like to head away from Dam View for a meal. From small local pubs and restaurants to further afield where you can plan a day out and know where to go for a lovely meal.

The Juniper bar is in Tillicoultry, its a very easy place to eat with good food at reasonable prices. The chef has worked at some of the worlds best restaurants including Gleneagles.

A brilliant place for breakfast, lunch or snacks, they serve mostly local produce. If you are like us and enjoy knowing where your food comes from, at Muircot they can tell you where nearly everything comes from and a story about how they know them.

Cafe Des Fluers is also in Dollar have the most amazing scones, cake and incredible milkshakes.

Bridge Street Kitchen

BSK is in Dollar, this is a great place to eat if you would like Scottish meals, they do a few of their dishes in tapas quantities and also have themed nights through the week. We eat and have eaten here a fair amount, a Taxi is about £12 to Dollar if you would like to go to the Prosecco evening.

Tormaukin

This Inn is not too far away, it was a firm family favourite when we were younger. The food is excellent, the setting is beautiful, its a great place to stop of dinner or lunch. If you enjoy walking then you can even walk from Dollar Glen across to the Tormaukin – really work for your lunch.

The Ox and Finch is in Glasgow, its a very popular restaurant so its advisable to book in advance of going (you can do this on their website). This is somewhere that we highly recommend.

The Courthouse

The courthouse is a new restaurant in Kinross, they have a lovely lunch and dinner menu with a proper pizza oven. If its a nice day they have an enclosed garden area for eating in. We tend to go to the courthouse if we are meeting with friends or having a family birthday, its a really easy restaurant to be in with good food.

The Boozy Cow

The Boozy Cow is in Stirling, its a very quirky restaurant with brilliant unusual decor. The food is American and British, lots of burgers, milkshakes and hot dogs for British tastes. Its incredibly easy, relaxed eating where you have no plates or cutlery (unless you ask), its become a new favourite of ours.

The Inn at Muchart is traditional ‘pub grub’ if you would like an easy pub setting and pub food then this is a wonderful little pub.

Loch Leven’s Larder

Loch Leven’s Larder is in Kinross, it is a Farm Shop with a restaurant too. The food is great for breakfast or lunch, it is a perfect spot if you are planning a walk or a bike ride around Loch Leven. There are some lovely pubs in this area so if you are planning a dinner after a nice long walk then the pubs are highly recommended.

These restaurants are family run by our wonderful friend Fred and his partner Betty. Fred goes out of his way to source locally and ethically, these are our family’s all time favourite restaurants, if you are in Edinburgh and would like a really good meal that this is it.

Scran and Scallie

The Scran and Scale is a restaurant in Edinburgh, its really easy to drive to and plenty of parking near by. Two of the top Scottish chefs Tom Kitchen and Dominic Jack along with their team came together to create this restaurant. This is a gastro pub, its easy dining, happy restaurant with lovely staff, there is a varied menu with a few ‘Scottish’ food themes. They are very family friendly with children’s meals and also a children’s section, where there is a tv, sofas and toys. This is also a busy restaurant and if you fancy going you will have to book often in advance, however they do keep aside tables for ‘walk ins’.
